This site is simple, and so is this policy. Here is exactly what we collect, why, and what we never do with it.
What We Collect#
Nothing account-based. This site doesn't require you to create an account, sign in, or hand over personal information to read anything.
If you email us at contact@thecookwarecritic.com, we'll have your email address. We won't share it, add you to a mailing list, or sell it. We'll use it to reply to you.
If you join the newsletter, your email address is stored by Kit (our newsletter provider) and used only to send you the newsletter. Like most email providers, Kit tracks whether you open an issue and which links you click; we use that only to see which topics readers care about. Every issue includes an unsubscribe link. You can read Kit's privacy policy for how they handle subscriber data.
Analytics#
We use an analytics tool to understand how readers use the site — which articles get read, how far people scroll, and where the site is confusing or broken.
Google Analytics collects standard usage data: pages you visit, how you arrived (search engine, social link, direct), approximate location at the city level, device and browser type, how far you scroll, and clicks on Amazon affiliate links. It sets cookies to distinguish returning visitors. We use this in aggregate; we can't identify you personally from it, and we don't try.
If you use one of our interactive tools (the PFAS Safety Checker, Induction Compatibility Checker, or Oven-Safe Temperature Lookup), we also record which tool and product line you looked up. You can read Google's privacy policy or block Google Analytics entirely with Google's opt-out browser add-on.
We don't run advertising pixels, social media trackers, or anything that follows you to other websites.
Hosting#
The site is served through Cloudflare, which may set a cookie for bot detection and security. We don't control that cookie and it doesn't track you across the web. You can read Cloudflare's privacy policy for details.
Affiliate Links#
Some links on this site are Amazon affiliate links. When you click one and buy something, Amazon tracks that purchase to credit the referral. Amazon handles that tracking on their end through cookies on their site, not ours.
You can read Amazon's privacy policy for how they handle it. Our full disclosure is on the Affiliate Disclosure page.
Third-Party Content#
Product images and links go to Amazon. When you click through to Amazon, their privacy policy applies, not ours.
Your Choices#
You can block the analytics cookies with any content blocker or your browser's tracking protection, and the site works exactly the same. Nothing on this site is gated behind accepting tracking.
Your Data#
We hold very little about anyone: contact emails and the newsletter list. Email us anytime to ask what we have about you, correct it, or have it deleted.
Children#
This site doesn't knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes#
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date below. No email blasts, no pop-ups.
